You’ll agree with me when I say the world has outdone itself with the celebratory messages about the bravery, courage and resilience the mothers of this world have shown in pursuit of causes greater than themselves and their circumstances. The gap in appreciating the contribution on the girl child, the women & mothers to our world still remains great, in creating enabling environments as well as building their capacity to deliver in different fields.
Today Uganda joins the world to celebrate women in a special way. An occasion that raise issues we hear in passing everyday in the papers and in our office corridors. We are hearing more cries from the pain inflicted on women by Poor policy and regulation, Gender based violence, poor management of public resources and funds towards women & child care initiatives. The list goes on, as seen in the story below. Which leaves wondering if we as leaders and citizens of Uganda in our different capacities are really celebrating our mothers, sisters, daughters and Women of the Pearl of Africa all year round.
To all the phenomenal women out there doing what they do best to make the world just a little more comfortable, life just a little more bearable and the day just a little more enjoyable for another person, we truly salute you & pledge to celebrate you by giving back & enabling your kind ways every day. Happy International Women’s day!
