Keiga Dance Company debuts its newest piece: Are U-Ganda?, in collaboration with Abramz Tekya and Breakdance Project Uganda, showing at the National Theater March 1st, 2nd, & 3rd at 7:00pm. Tickets – 10,000/=
Identity is informed by our belief systems and how we perceive the world around us. Are U-Ganda? opens up questions around cultural identity. The dance begins in a place of confusion, and looks at identity from a number of viewpoints. How do you see yourself as a Ugandan? Does it matter how you are seen by the world? And, what happens when you do not agree with everything your culture (or nation) stands for?
Are U-Ganda? is based in contemporary African movement language which, like the theme, explores a rich cultural heritage, while aiming to push artistic boundaries and articulate a fluid and transforming contemporary world.
Friday 1st March at the National Theatre. From 7pm.
