I would expect a bunch of educated post modern men on a national, continental, now that NTV is on a dish network, to be on a sensible show about educating younger men to be better adult men not one that debates how long a woman has had her weave in and how it turns them off. And have them banter about in-laws as a means to escape responsibility and having the intern before her internship expires whilst using vulgar language to ‘HIT THE POINT HOME’.
I never watched Men for enjoyment, or as many women do to get tips to hook men (which by the way is counteractive because the looks don’t compliment the substance). I watched it to confirm the stupidity of men and the open secret that they are bigger gossips than women and boy was I right. It has led me to believe that the producer of this show wanted to sabotage the being that is a man. We get it you want a voice, women emancipation has been around for too long but for the ‘stronger’ sex to engage in basically lugambo is a shame and a big one at that; but then again men may need their own ‘niginas’. Mental ill health stemming from an African culture of men not crying and all is a growing concern in sub –Saharan Africa.
It is TV alright with drama and mind picking issues (depending on what mind you have anyway-sober minds want to sink their head in a bucket of ice, average minds want to compliment the looks on facebook, minds like mine switch off after the first segment). The only time it gets interesting is when they have a guest in house especially a female who shudders the core of their microscopic pseudo intellectual /profound findings.
The setting of the show is really posh but I would rather they put them in a cave somewhere. But I think that would offend our fore fathers because I doubt talk over the pot brew was on the wives’ hair. I would imagine it was on acquiring land, hunting and new opportunities not sissified issues made grand as this show is doing.
In my History class I distinctly remember the fall of King Louis XVI being taking advice from Marie Antoinette during pillow talk. MEN is exactly that-pillow talk.
All I have to say is take the show off TV, make it a closed show focus group to understand where society went wrong in raising men and birth a donor funded project to help male youths avoid being MEN on NTV. But before that, bring their wives/ girlfriends on and let’s hear their side of the story. Now that will be good TV and I will watch it beyond two episodes.
