The fourth edition of the UPPA is approaching fast, but before we open the competition for submissions we would like to invite you to participate in the first of two workshops planned for this year.
We will provide an introductory training in narrative journalism to a maximum of 20 Ugandan journalists and photographers in the early to mid stages of their careers. The journalists will work in pairs (writer and photographer) to complete an assignment combining narrative writing and photography to capture a story of interest – whether feature or investigative. The training will be lead by Andrew Green and Will Boase, experienced journalists who have been working together for a number of years and for arange of internationally known publications.
Interested photographers and writers are invited to apply by sending a CV and a short motivation letter(max. 1 page A4) to Anna at email@example.com.
We strongly encourage interested photographers and journalists to submit their applications as writer-photographer teams, and priority will be given to those who apply in this way.
The workshop will take place in Kampala between May 25th and June 5th. Participants will only be required to attend workshop classes on five of those days- the rest of the time will be spent on completing an assignment. There will be no facilitation for accommodation or travel, therefore only people who either live in Kampala and surroundings or who can afford to cover their stay in Kampala for the entirety of those two weeks are eligible.
This is a great opportunity to learn in-depth skills and progress within your chosen field, and should not be missed.
Deadline for applications: April 27th, 2015.
