The Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU) announced the upcoming prestigious PRAU Excellence Awards today, 18th August 2015, at a press conference at Imperial Royale Hotel.
The Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU) is the umbrella public relations body of Uganda,. It is affiliated with other regional and global public relations bodies such as the East African Public Relations Association (EARPA), the Federation of Africa Public Relations Association (FARPA) and the International Public Relations Association (IPRA).
Uganda’s PRAU Excellence Awards, the event that recognizes public relations and communications excellence in Uganda, is set to take place on 30th October 2015. This year’s event will see the awards going electronic with online entries and voting. This was said while showcasing their new upcoming website, capable of handling over 2 million photos and online entries.
According to Henry Rugamba, the current president of Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU), the awards will be held at the end of October. The meeting will gather PR practitioners from all over the country. The lead judge will be Julius Mucunguzi, a Communication Specialist at Commonwealth Secretariat and a long-standing member of PRAU.
This year’s awards will be held under the theme “Optimizing the function of PR in today’s digital era.”
“The 5th PRAU Excellence Awards are giving you the unique opportunity to market your products and services to directly 300 and indirectly 8 million East African corporate, humanitarian and government populations,” Hon. Jim Muhwezi, the Hon. Minister for Information and National Guidance and the Patron PRAU stated when contacted.
In the last awards, Kampala-based Fireworks Advertising emerged the overall winner of the PRAU Excellence Awards after beating competitors to the award.
The awards are open to; PR and Communications practitioners, business enterprises/SMEs, government bodies, PR agencies, associations, NGO’s, students pursuing PR related courses, in-house PR departments.

Submit entries now
Organizations or individuals may submit entries on behalf of themselves or others and may enter any number of categories. Deadline for submission is 16th October 2015.
Award Submission Rules
The entry must start with an opening 100-word statement describe why the entry should be deemed worthy of an award. It should indicate what was done differently from the usual.
The entry submission should be limited to 1200 words entirely in English and with Arial font of 12 point size. This excludes the 100 words above.
The entry must follow this submission structure; (i) Statement on problem/opportunity (ii) Research (iii) Planning (iv) Execution (v) Evaluation
One MUST upload on PRAU’s website (i) a completed entry form (ii) a written submission in Microsoft Word or in PDF format (iii) a 5-minute video to support their entry. For more, go to www.prauganda.com
